A vision of the new outdoor shopping village coming to Mission Viejo in 2026.
The Shops at Mission Viejo is set to undergo a major expansion, introducing a multimillion-dollar outdoor shopping and dining experience. Scheduled for completion before the 2026 holiday season, the new area will feature 50,000 square feet of retail space, including popular dining spots like North Italia and Pacific Catch, along with a two-story Arhaus. This project aims to embrace outdoor living and enhance community engagement, complementing similar developments in nearby malls.
Mission Viejo residents, get ready for some fantastic changes coming your way! On March 27, 2025, it was announced that The Shops at Mission Viejo will be expanding in a big way, with plans for a multimillion-dollar addition that will introduce an incredible outdoor shopping and dining experience. Can you picture it? A charming village-style area filled with your favorite shops and restaurants, right in the heart of our community!
The construction for this exciting expansion is set to begin later this year, which means that in just a short time, we’ll start to see some changes around the mall. The aim is to have this new outdoor shopping village completed just in time for the holiday shopping season in 2026. How great would it be to stroll through an inviting outdoor plaza filled with twinkling lights and festive cheer while doing your holiday shopping?
So, what can we expect from this new village? Well, prepare to welcome around 50,000 square feet of additional retail and dining space! That’s a ton of room for new shops to set up and tantalizing restaurants to tempt your taste buds. Two major dining spots that have confirmed their presence are North Italia and Pacific Catch, both known for their delicious food and vibrant atmospheres.
But that’s not all! Fans of home décor will be delighted to hear that a two-story Arhaus will also be featured in this new outdoor space. Known for its stylish furniture and décor pieces, this store will certainly add to the charm of the new shopping village.
Why the push for an outdoor shopping experience, you ask? It’s all about embracing the outdoor lifestyle that so many folks in Orange County cherish! The commission behind the mall expansion, Simon, is keen to create a space that reflects the beauty of our sunny weather and encourages community gatherings.
This expansion at The Shops at Mission Viejo mirrors a similar project currently underway at Brea Mall, also owned by Simon, where an open-air area and apartments are being developed. It looks like the outdoor trend is catching on fast around here!
Additionally, Orange Coast College students have also been making waves by winning the 2025 American Culinary Federation’s Western Regional Student Team Competition that has them advancing to the national championship. How exciting is that?
In corporate news, Tim Byrne has recently taken over as the deputy CEO of the Transportation Corridor Agencies, and Jason Biado has been appointed to the position of senior vice president of Distribution at MobileX in Irvine. These leadership changes are sure to have a lasting impact within our community.
Families Forward, a nonprofit aimed at assisting families facing housing crises, has made some recent appointments to its board of directors, welcoming new members who are dedicated to making a difference in our local community.
Lastly, let’s give a round of applause to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast, who successfully raised $84,000 at their eighth annual Women of Greatness Brunch & Bubbly event. Their efforts in the community continue to shine bright!
With all this exciting news, Mission Viejo sure has a lot to look forward to! As we await the construction of the new shopping village, let’s celebrate the great initiatives happening in our community. Here’s to a brighter, more exciting future in Mission Viejo!
