SangHyuk Im from University High School is heading to MIT for tennis and plans to focus on math and computer science, showcasing that student-athletes can excel academically and athletically. The spotlight also shone on Alexia Duncan, who has the impressive record of being a four-time team MVP in swimming for Irvine, where she also holds school records.

Other noteworthy local athletes include Zach Ireland from Beckman, who helped his team clinch a CIF title and is committed to UC Davis for baseball. Multi-sport athlete Milan Heisdorf from Woodbridge will head to UC Irvine to play soccer, while Kira Watanabe from Portola has set records in basketball and is showcasing her talents at the collegiate level.

Irvine High’s girls flag football team had a thrilling opening to their season with a 6-0 victory against Dana Hills.
